This week's Music Monday is "Born 2 Run" by 7Lions.
This is not a cover of the Springsteen song. It's not even a song that I would normally listen to.
I heard this song on a couple of Sirius/XM stations that I listen to. (Octane and Faction) The song does not fit either station's format. But they play it. (Biting my tongue from ranting about how stations decide what music they want played......) Sorry.
When the song started playing I was about to change it but decided to give it a very quick listen because of the title. The lyrics kept me from changing it. They are really good lyrics that relate to being a runner. I knew right away: "Damn! This song is a good running song! And Dammit! I'm probably gonna end up liking it!"
It's not really my kind of song. It's more of a pop song. It has a dude rapping and a douchey singer with some douchey indie/soft rock dudes playing the music. (My apologies to any douches I offended) How this song ended up on a couple of hard rock stations blows my mind......or does it? Further proof that music has a divine way of finding me.
This song should really be on a pop station. And on most of the runners that I know playlists, not mine. However, it is really a great running song. So it will be on my "running" playlist. And probably on my "motivation" playlist. Right along with Slipknot, Deftones, Metallica.....you get the point. Actually, it will be like that little change of pace I get when Fergie pops up in the middle of a playlist. (I love me some Fergie!)
Anyway, I suggest you check this song out if you are a runner. Or if you like pop music. This song will be overplayed pretty soon, if it's not already. For all I know it may already be a huge hit. I didn't even know who Adele was until everyone was tired of hearing "Someone Like You". I don't really follow pop culture much.
Enjoy!
You're right about 2 things: it does seem like a great running song and the video is full of douchy guys.
ReplyDeleteThanks Guys. Our goal was just to have fun with this song and inspire people to overcome what ever obstacles may be in their way with a good song. -7Lions
